Peter Schiff on silver volatility and physical market pressure

Peter Schiff, Chief Market Strategist at Euro Pacific Asset Management, says recent volatility in silver has raised fresh questions about market structure and delivery dynamics. Speaking with Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron, Schiff addressed the 90-minute CME trading halt that occurred as silver prices moved above $90 ahead of first notice day. He questioned whether the exchange’s explanation of a “technical issue” was a “coincidence,” suggesting it was “better than telling the truth,” and argued that physical demand is playing a larger role in price discovery. Schiff also examined U.S. fiscal policy, calling the government’s budget trajectory a “math problem” if entitlement spending is not reduced. He warned that inflation may ultimately “reduce the value of those entitlements” despite political promises to protect them. In addition, Schiff discussed tokenized gold, India’s regulatory shift allowing greater metals allocation, and what he described as gold’s potential to bypass legacy banking channels as counterparty risk concerns grow.
