Omai Gold mines targets 250,000 to 300,000 oz per year in new Guyana PEA
Omai Gold Mines is advancing its Omai gold project in Guyana toward a larger-scale development plan, with an updated resource and a new preliminary economic assessment expected in the coming months. Speaking with Kitco Mining at PDAC 2026 in Toronto, CEO & Executive Chair Elaine Ellingham said the project already exceeds a 10Moz gold endowment, combining 3.8Moz of historical production with roughly 6.5Moz in indicated and inferred resources. “Where there's gold, there's more gold,” she said. Ellingham said the next PEA, expected about two months out, is designed to reflect a more complete mine plan, including both deposits, and could outline production of 250,000 to 300,000 oz per year over an 18 to 20 year mine life, compared to 142,000 oz annually in the 2024 study. She added the open-pit component likely works at an $1,800 gold price, with underground development planned to follow initial production as drilling continues and the company advances toward feasibility.
