Jeff Weniger warns investors are still underallocated to gold
Jeff Weniger, Head of Equity Strategy at WisdomTree, says many investors remain underallocated to gold despite rising volatility across asset classes. Speaking with Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron, Weniger argued that holding zero exposure to gold is increasingly risky as the delayed effects of Federal Reserve policy continue to support both precious metals and broader markets. He said earlier rate cuts are still working through the system, sustaining liquidity and influencing portfolio positioning. Weniger pointed to strong global demand for silver, including rising imports into China, and highlighted copper’s breakout as a signal of continued economic expansion. He also compared gold’s performance with other perceived hedges, stating that “Bitcoin decided to die on the vine during the two S&P sell-offs,” while gold has continued to function as a portfolio diversifier. Weniger said current conditions reinforce the case for maintaining exposure to metals within a balanced portfolio.
