China’s hidden gold reserves could challenge the U.S. dollar, Dominic Frisby warns

Dominic Frisby, Founder of TheFlyingFrisby.com and author of The Secret History of Gold, says sustained central bank buying is reshaping the global gold market and may signal a shift in monetary power. Speaking with Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron, Frisby pointed to continued sovereign purchases exceeding 200 tonnes per quarter and argued that official reserve figures may understate actual holdings, particularly in China. Frisby said China’s reported reserves could be significantly higher than disclosed, citing domestic production, exchange withdrawals, and import flows as indicators of accumulation. He also discussed recent gold repatriation efforts by European central banks and the distinction between paper claims and physical ownership. Frisby outlined longer-term implications for the U.S. dollar, referencing Triffin’s dilemma, and projected gold could reach $10,000 by 2030 as structural pressures on fiat systems continue to build.
