David Hunter says 44-year bull market could end by labor day

David Hunter, Chief Macro Strategist at Contrarian Macro Advisors, says U.S. markets may be entering the final stage of a decades-long bull market before a severe deflationary downturn. Speaking with Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron, Hunter outlined his view that a parabolic melt-up could push equities to a peak as early as Labor Day, driven by fiscal deficits, market momentum, and late-cycle leverage. Hunter warned that hidden stress in private equity and private credit could help trigger a major global unwind, potentially outside the U.S. first. He said an eventual deflationary bust could require massive Federal Reserve intervention and set the stage for much higher inflation later in the decade. Hunter also discussed cycle targets for gold and silver, central bank accumulation, physical metal demand, and the mining sector’s potential to become a major speculative trade before the cycle turns.
