Chris Vermeulen says gold could hit $3,600 before its next leg higher

Chris Vermeulen, Founder and Chief Investment Officer of TheTechnicalTraders.com, says he is waiting for a deeper technical reset before buying back into gold. Speaking with Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron, Vermeulen said he sold gold above $5,000 and silver near $111 and is now watching the $3,600 level as a potential re-entry point. Vermeulen said the long-term gold target remains $8,000 to $8,600, but argued the current selloff has not yet finished. He described the recent volatility as driven by investor emotion rather than algorithms or manipulation and also discussed silver’s downside levels, the stronger U.S. dollar, weakness in the yen, and why he is holding cash in equities. Vermeulen said one of the biggest mistakes investors make during selloffs is reacting emotionally instead of following a disciplined plan.
