Mackay Gold & Silver (TSXV: MACK; OTCQB: MKGSF) is advancing its first major drill program in Nevada’s historic Comstock District after completing a $60 million financing and launching exploration at the Occidental-Brunswick Lode. Speaking with Kitco Mining’s Kitco Spotlight, CEO and Director Darwin Green said fragmented ownership left the district underexplored in a modern context, creating an opportunity to apply modern drilling to one of America’s most famous gold-silver camps. The company’s 20,000-meter Phase 1 program, which began in June, includes 15,000 meters of RC drilling focused on near-surface oxide gold-silver mineralization and 5,000 meters of core drilling testing deeper potential near the historic Sutro Tunnel. Green also discussed Mackay’s land consolidation strategy, the Comstock District’s historic production, remaining treasury of more than $40 million USD, first assay results expected in late summer, and why the company believes the district still has room for new discovery.
