Gold breakout signals ‘rocket fuel’ setup for metals | David Erfle

David Erfle, Founder and Editor of JuniorMinerJunky.com, says gold’s latest breakout reflects a weaker U.S. dollar, lower long-term yields and growing market concern that the Fed is trapped between slowing growth and persistent inflation. Speaking with Kitco Mining’s Digging Deep on August 20, Erfle said Treasury debt-buyback moves relieved pressure from two of gold’s biggest headwinds ahead of Jackson Hole. “This is basically the road towards stagflation, and that is rocket fuel for precious metals,” he said. Erfle also compared the latest gold and silver correction with the 2008 setup, outlining a scenario for much higher metals prices by 2029. He said late-stage developer ounces could attract more M&A into year-end, while strategic investments from majors can validate juniors and set up potential bidding wars. He also discussed OceanaGold’s US$549 million Ausgold deal, Canada’s permitting shift, producer buybacks and dividends, bullion on balance sheets and critical minerals valuations.
