Jesse Knutson, Head of Operations at Bitfinex Securities, says tokenization could open a new capital route for mining and commodity companies by connecting issuers with investors outside traditional financing channels. Speaking with Kitco Mining on September 8, Knutson discussed Bitfinex Securities’ US$50 million raise for Alkemya Metacore, a Luxembourg-based platform commercializing ultra-high-purity nickel wire for semiconductors, aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing. Knutson said tokenization applies the technology behind Bitcoin and digital assets to capital markets, creating a system designed to be cheaper, faster and more transparent. He also explained how tokenized securities can trade, why whitelisted ecosystems are used to meet qualified-investor and jurisdictional rules, and how crypto high-net-worth investors, family offices and institutions moving between traditional finance and digital assets could become new sources of mining capital. Knutson also discussed El Salvador’s digital asset framework, real-world assets, 24/7 trading, real-time settlement, and peer-to-peer transfers.
