New Pacific advances two silver projects as Bolivia opens up | Jalen Yuan

Jalen Yuan, CEO of New Pacific Metals, says changing mining and investment policy in Bolivia could create a more supportive backdrop for the company’s two permitting-stage precious-metals projects, Silver Sand and Carangas. Speaking with Kitco Mining at the 2026 Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, Yuan said Carangas has entered a new phase after New Pacific signed its Administrative Mining Contracts and launched a 30,000-meter drill program. Yuan said New Pacific is “not picking one over the other,” with both projects advancing through permitting and community engagement. Carangas has already secured community support, while Silver Sand continues negotiations toward its own long-term agreement and is expected to advance toward feasibility. Yuan also discussed financing, strategic shareholders Silvercorp Metals and Pan American Silver, and outside M&A interest, while saying New Pacific’s preference remains to build the mines itself.
