Gold needs one more drop under $4,000 before a run to record highs in 2028, says Peter Grandich

(Kitco News) - Gold may need one more brief drop below $4,000 to build the base for its next major advance toward record highs in 2028, according to Peter Grandich, founder of PeterGrandich.com, who says he sold his gold before this year’s pullback. Speaking with Kitco News, Grandich said a “brief visit under 4,000” would “psychologically set up a really strong bottom” that gold needs before challenging its earlier highs and pushing to new records in 2028, adding that gold bugs “may not like the next few words out of my mouth, but they’re actually bullish.” He said he had gotten out of nearly all his metals and uranium positions near the top, and warned that his view on a stock market crash has shifted, calling it “no longer unlikely” in just the past few days as market breadth deteriorates. On the bond market, Grandich said a 10-year Treasury yield above 6% would signal “some sort of financial crisis,” and he described Canadian mining as a “lifetime opportunity.” He also sees copper reaching $7 before 2027.
