Dakota Gold targets Richmond Hill as the next homestake mine

Dakota Gold is advancing the Richmond Hill Gold Project in South Dakota toward a potential 2029 production start as it prepares a pre-feasibility study for Q4 2026 and a full feasibility study around mid-2027. Speaking with Kitco Mining on September 29, Co-Chair Robert Quartermain said the company had about $99 million on its balance sheet as of June, which management believes can fund Richmond Hill through to a shovel-ready stage. Quartermain said the prior development concept contemplated 153,000 ounces of annual production, while ongoing drilling and metallurgical work could support a larger operation. Dakota has also begun ordering long-lead equipment and expects an approximately 18-month permitting process, with permits targeted by the end of 2028 before construction begins. “We've got the team to build it, we have the access to the capital to build it, and we'll move forward doing that,” Quartermain said.
