Sunshine Silver scales up 2028 restart with antimony upside | Heather White

Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining is targeting a late-2028 return to production at Idaho’s Sunshine Mine while evaluating a larger operation than originally planned. Speaking with Kitco Mining at the 2026 Mining Forum Americas, CEO Heather White said the company is now studying a 2,000-tonne-per-day mill, double the roughly 1,000-tonne-per-day base case, as it plans for higher future throughput and resource growth. Sunshine’s indicated resource totals about 104 million ounces of silver at 1,022 g/t, with another 160 million ounces inferred at 776 g/t. The company is also evaluating a restart of its refining complex and development of an antimony plant that could potentially supply as much as 60% of annual U.S. demand. Beyond the mine restart, Sunshine expanded its Silver Valley land position by 60% to roughly 38,000 acres and launched a 45,000-meter exploration program targeting broader multi-mine potential.
