Physical gold is an insurance policy you never sell | George Gammon
(Kitco News) - Macro investor George Gammon said he treats physical gold as an insurance policy rather than a trade, putting a set share of his income into the metal with no plan to sell. “I usually take 10% of what I make and put it into physical gold,” the Rebel Capitalist host told Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron. Gammon said gold often shows little correlation with inflation over periods of one to 10 years, but over decades he called it “one of the safest bets you can make in markets.” He said he turns to gold miners, not bullion, for speculation. Gammon argued that central banks, not retail investors, have been the main driver of gold prices, buying in response to counterparty risk that he said has risen sharply since 2022 and U.S. sanctions. If that buying continues at its recent pace, he said, “I would be quite surprised if it was below 5,000 or 6,000” in three to five years.
