Coeur Mining shifts from acquisitions to cash flow and shareholder returns | Mitch Krebs

Coeur Mining is shifting its focus from acquisitions to execution following the SilverCrest and New Gold transactions, with management targeting approximately $2.3 billion in adjusted EBITDA and $1.5 billion in free cash flow in 2026. Speaking with Kitco Mining's Paul Harris at Mining Forum Americas 2026, President and CEO Mitch Krebs said the company is now in “digestion and delivery mode,” prioritizing operational performance across its expanded portfolio. Coeur holds more than $1 billion in cash and has authorized a $750 million share buyback program, with approximately $220 million repurchased at the time of the interview. Krebs said further acquisitions are on hold as Coeur concentrates on organic growth and shareholder returns, including a newly introduced semiannual dividend. Key opportunities include extending open-pit production at Rainy River, developing New Afton's K-Zone and advancing a prefeasibility study at Silvertip in British Columbia. Management expects 2027 to be the first full year reflecting the enlarged portfolio.
