Equinox Gold shifts from M&A to execution | Jason Simpson
Equinox Gold is moving from merger-driven growth to execution after completing major combinations with Calibre Mining and Orla Mining, with President and incoming CEO Jason Simpson saying the focus is now on delivering from the enlarged platform. “We don't need anything else. We just need to focus on delivering,” Simpson told Kitco Mining at the 2026 Mining Forum Americas. The combined portfolio has annual production capacity of roughly 1.1 million ounces, with an organic growth pipeline targeting around 2 million ounces over time. Simpson said the projects are deliberately sequenced to avoid competing for capital, while growth is expected to be funded internally alongside debt reduction, dividends and share buybacks. Near-term catalysts include continued ramp-ups at Greenstone and Valentine, construction at South Railroad in Nevada and future development at Castle Mountain.
