Franco-Nevada prepares for new mining deals as Cobre Panamá talks advance | Paul Brink

Franco-Nevada is preparing to deploy substantial capital into new mining investments as demand for royalty and streaming financing grows. Speaking with Kitco Mining's Paul Harris at Mining Forum Americas 2026 on September 29, President and CEO Paul Brink said the company has approximately $4.3 billion in available capital and expects significant deal activity over the next six to 12 months. Franco-Nevada is also tracking toward the upper half of its 2026 production guidance, supported by stronger energy royalties and renewed payments from Cobre Panamá stockpile processing. Brink expressed cautious optimism about Cobre Panamá's future, saying he sees “a route forward” between First Quantum Minerals and Panama's government, although a full restart remains uncertain. He also outlined Franco-Nevada's expanding strategy of combining royalties and streams with debt and equity financing, citing partnerships with i-80 Gold and Minerals 260. Brink pointed to BHP's $4.3 billion Antamina silver stream as evidence of growing demand for alternative financing among major mining companies.
