Gold’s biggest bull market yet isn’t over - Brien Lundin

(Kitco News) - Gold’s sharp drop on Oct. 30 does not mark the end of what Brien Lundin calls “another major secular bull market for gold,” one he expects to be “the biggest and the best” in the metal’s history as an investable asset. Speaking with Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron at the New Orleans Investment Conference, Lundin, the event’s CEO and editor of Gold Newsletter, said the move reflected gold’s role as “the piggy bank” in a margin call, sold when investors need liquidity. He said 45 years of ever-easier money and growing debt mean currency depreciation “has to accelerate.” Lundin said central banks have been buying more when prices fall, and that the first 18 months of the bull market were driven by almost relentless central bank buying before Western traders brought greater volatility. If the selloff becomes a crisis on the scale of 2008 or COVID, he expects the policy response to be many times larger than in the past. He said gold is likely near a low and could reach the high $4,000s by next year, while noting that tax loss selling may weigh on junior miners in the coming weeks.
