Bitcoin faces resistance after CME gap fill: Technical outlook and macro implications teaser image

Bitcoin Technical Outlook

article image

Bitcoin closed Monday’s CME gap at $88,500, triggering a short-term bullish bounce. Volume exceeded its moving average, on-balance volume (OBV) rose above its MA line, and daily RSI printed a higher low after an RSI reset—indicators that suggest some strength. However, price remains below the daily TBO Cloud in strong bearish mode and failed to produce a bullish engulfing candle above Sunday’s open at $89,222.

In the coming days, Bitcoin may retest the broken support-turned-resistance zone and tag the daily TBO Fast line before resuming its downtrend toward $80,000, or it could sharply reject at current levels, lose TBO support at $86,000 and accelerate lower. A 4-hour TBO Close Shorts signal would be required to counter the broader bearish bias in this “Bottom Year.”

Ethereum Outlook

Ethereum’s price action parallels Bitcoin’s: a failed bullish engulfing candle but signs of a bounce in progress. Unlike BTC, ETH’s OBV moving average is sloping downward, indicating bearish macro volume. After losing daily TBO support at $2,782, ETH is likely to be rejected at resistance and head toward lower lows.

The weekly candle is triggering a TBO Open Short signal, and a tag of the weekly TBO Fast line could precede a drop below the weekly Cloud around $2,700, potentially accelerating toward $1,500 before any meaningful relief rally.

Market Dominance & Total Cap Trends

Stablecoin dominance remains in strong bullish mode above the daily Cloud, suggesting continued pressure on both Bitcoin and altcoins. Bitcoin dominance pulled back slightly as daily RSI wanes, opening the door for short-lived altcoin rallies, yet the macro trend favors further declines. Ethereum, Solana and other altcoin dominance charts have printed temporary bounces but remain macroscopically bearish.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization briefly broke below its bear-flag support and then closed back inside. It is on track to tag the daily TBO Fast line as overhead resistance. OBV is bearish and the TBO Cloud is signaling strong bearish sentiment, implying that any rally is likely a selling opportunity.

Macro Markets Influence

The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) has fallen to historical TBO support at 96.891, with daily RSI initiating a reset that may signal a pivot low. A rebound in DXY typically weighs on U.S. equities and Bitcoin. EUR/USD is overbought near TBO resistance at 1.1919, while USD/JPY remains oversold but is showing a weekly TBT bearish divergence, suggesting further yen weakness if the DXY resumes its rise.

U.S. equity indices have retraced into or above their daily Clouds. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average exhibit weekly TBT bearish divergence clusters and declining RSI, warning of potential reversals if the dollar strengthens. The Nasdaq 100 has printed a 4-hour TBO Close Long reversal warning and continues to struggle below TBO resistance at 25,762.

Precious Metals Rally

Gold experienced a mild pullback after setting another all-time high; daily RSI is approaching 93, leaving room for a potential rally toward $6,500. Silver nearly hit the $122 target but faces blow-off top risk; traders should scale out profits incrementally on rallies. Platinum surged to a new high at $2,882, printing multiple weekly and daily TBT bearish divergence clusters. Copper also printed a bearish cluster, underscoring the parabolic nature of this precious metals rally and the likelihood of a sharp correction.

Altcoin Trading Opportunities

BNB bounced from a long-tested support line and may tag its daily TBO Fast line before rolling over; any push to the Fast line should be viewed as a short entry. Many altcoins, including XRP, HYPE and CC, exhibit overbought conditions or bearish divergences, offering attractive risk-reward ratios for short positions. Traders should watch for daily RSI peaks declining against higher price highs, as seen in WLFI and RIVER, and consider scaling out of long positions on failed rallies.
