Bitcoin faces critical breakdown amid bearish signals teaser image

Bitcoin Technical Breakdown

Bitcoin’s steep drop of over 3.5% on Thursday confirmed a bear flag breakdown, with immediate support near $65,000 and critical levels at $60,000, $49,000 and even $38,555 on the horizon. Since the early-February low at $60,000, BTC has traced higher-low wicks—each wick a “match stick” that must be cleared before the next leg lower. A decisive break below Sunday’s $67,360 swing low will likely trigger a rapid decline toward the $65,000 zone, in line with the flag’s measured move.

Technically, BTC closed below the daily TBO Cloud, signaling a pivot to strong bearish mode. While daily RSI has yet to post a lower low, an imminent OBV cross below its moving average and the reversal of Thursday’s 4-hour TBO Open Long into a TBO Close Long reinforce downside momentum.

Ethereum and Market Breadth Indicators

Ethereum underperformed, shedding 5% on Thursday yet mirroring Bitcoin’s RSI non-confirmation of a new low. Across the market, combined stablecoin dominance has breached its bull flag resistance—if it closes above this level, it will constitute a bullish breakout in stablecoin share, a bearish omen for crypto assets overall.

The total crypto market cap (TOTALES) is similarly breaking down from a bear flag, trading below key support with RSI poised for a lower low and OBV already undercutting its moving average. These breadth indicators suggest further downside pressure beyond the majors.

Macro and TradFi Influences

The U.S. dollar index (DXY) has pushed above overhead resistance in its own bull flag formation, a clear warning for risk assets and foreign currencies alike. The Japanese yen vaulted to 159.976 against the dollar, printing a third TBO Breakout as Tokyo approaches Friday’s close, signaling potential BoJ intervention risks.

U.S. equity futures reflect this strain: the S&P 500 closed down 1.74%, with SPX futures targeting the weekly TBO Slow line near 5,599.20. The Nasdaq-100 marked a lower low and triggered a second daily TBO Breakdown, while the FANG index eyeing a pullback to its weekly TBO Slow line around 11,762. Mega-caps NVIDIA and Tesla also posted losses of over 4% and 3.6% respectively. Meanwhile, the VIX remains in a rejection zone since early March, reinforcing a risk-off backdrop. In Asia, the Nikkei is rolling over after a fourth tag of its TBO Fast line, and both the Shanghai Composite and Hang Seng remain in strong bearish mode.

Commodities: Oil and Gold

Oil’s renewed rally continues to inject volatility into markets, while gold has yet to confirm a bullish RSI reset on the daily. Investors should wait for RSI and price structure confirmation before initiating new long positions or scaling a dollar-cost average strategy. As Bitcoin weakens and gold holds steady, the PAX Gold/Bitcoin pair is revealing a hidden bullish divergence, hinting at further outperformance for the yellow metal against crypto.

Altcoin Update

Among altcoins, Solana is likely to test its TBO Support at 78.73 after making a lower local low. Stellar (XLM) appears poised for a retracement following its recent breakdown. Hyperion (HYPE) is printing a bearish TBT divergence and has closed below its first support fan, with OBV rolling over. Polkadot has roughly 4% more to decline before reaching its TBO Support. Earlier rally stars like MNT are now correcting, reaffirming the “trend wins” principle. TAO shows early signs of weakening despite underlying strength, while NEAR confirmed a 4-hour TBO Breakdown and continues lower. Wild Crypto (WLD) has resumed its downtrend after a brief bounce, and other small-caps remain under pressure.
