DUBLIN, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Irish gross domestic product
(GDP) grew by 3.5% quarter-on-quarter from October to December
and by 12.2% for the whole of 2022, according to a new
preliminary estimate reading published by the Central Statistics
Office for the first time on Monday.
The government has long cautioned against using GDP to
accurately measure economic growth as it is routinely inflated
by multinational activity. Its preferred measure, modified
domestic demand, was not included in Monday's early estimates.
GDP growth in the final quarter was driven mainly by
expansion in the manufacturing sector, the CSO said. It will
published detailed quarterly figures, including modified
domestic demand, in early March.
