ISTANBUL, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and
events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira traded at 18.8120 against the dollar
early on Thursday, little changed from Wednesday's close of
18.8115.
The main BIST 100 share index closed 5.29% lower at
4,713.39 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks jumped on Thursday while the dollar eased after
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said a "disinflationary"
process was underway, boosting risk appetite and hope that the
U.S. central bank will soon end its monetary tightening streak.
ERDOGAN PROGRAMME
President Tayyip Erdogan will speak by video link at an
opening ceremony for a new highway (1100 GMT) and will then
visit the home of his alliance partner Devlet Bahceli, leader of
the nationalist MHP, for talks (1200 GMT).
TRADE DATA Trade Minister Mehmet Mus will hold a news conference to
announce January foreign trade data (0800 GMT).
PARLIAMENT
Parliament's budget commission will begin debate of a bill
dropping the retirement age requirement for millions of people
(0800 GMT).
FINANCE MINISTER
Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati will take participate in
panel discussion at a "Turkey Century" summit (1530 GMT). The
industry and agriculture ministers will also attend the summit.
CENTRAL BANK DATA The central bank will release its weekly data on forex
reserves, bond and forex holdings (1130 GMT).
FOREIGN MINISTER
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will speak at an event in
Ankara (1315 GMT).
DEFENCE MINISTER
Defence Minister Hulusi Akar and his Azeri and Georgian
counterparts will attend a military exercies event in eastern
Turkey (0800 GMT).
PARLIAMENT SPEAKER
Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop will give an interview to
state-owned Anadolu news agency (0700 GMT)
