WASHINGTON, Feb 1 (Reuters) - U.S. officials met on
Tuesday with gold industry companies and associations to urge
broader due diligence standards and robust implementation of
Russia-focused sanctions, the State Department said in a
statement on Wednesday.
The inter-agency meeting, led by U.S. Ambassador James
O'Brien of the department's Office of Sanctions Coordination,
also discussed "the role gold plays in supporting other regimes
of concern, including in Latin America and Africa, and illicit
networks," the statement said.
