OSLO, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Norway's finance ministry said
on Friday it would adjust its wage and inflation assumptions
when it presents a fiscal budget revision for 2023 in May, to
account for soaring prices that had not been anticipated in the
original government spending plan.
The government does not normally change its assumptions in
the mid-year budget revision, but inflation and wages have risen
significantly more than expected and this must be reflected to
avoid unintended public sector spending cuts, the ministry said.
"The purpose of the adjustments is to maintain public
services at the level originally planned," it said in a
statement.
