MUMBAI, Feb 8 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 409.72 points, or 0.68%,
to 60,695.76, while the broader NSE index gained 117.95
points, or 0.67%, to 17,839.45. Investors bet on a smaller interest rate hike by the Reserve
Bank of India, while sentiment improved after markets perceived
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's comments to be dovish.
RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.07% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 82.66 per dollar, ahead of the RBI policy
decision. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.64
rupees, with the yield unchanged at 7.3124% as traders await
policy decision and guidance on stance. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was 1
basis points lower at 6.65%, while the benchmark five-year swap
rate rose 3 bps to 6.26%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 30 bps at
6.35%. The overnight TREPS rate was at 6.33%,
compared with the previous day's weighted average of 6.0407%.
