POLITICS Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will meet Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Thursday in Brussels on the sidelines of a European Council meeting, a government source told Reuters. ECONOMY Bank of Italy releases December data on Italian residents deposits with domestic banks, banks lending to non-financial companies and gross bad loans at Italian banks. DEBT Treasury announces sale of BTP bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on Feb. 14. (*) Rome aims to protect its high public debt from potential financial shocks by raising the share of government bonds held by Italians and foreign citizens living in the country, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was quoted as saying on Thursday. COMPANIES (*) ENI Norway's Vaar Energi , majority owned by the Italian energy group, said on Thursday it has made an oil discovery near its Goliat field in the Arctic Barents Sea. BPER Italy's fourth-largest bank said on Wednesday its dividend for 2022 had doubled as rate hikes and lower loss provisions helped its profit offsetting higher costs. BANCA MEDIOLANUM The bank raised its guidance on net interest income for 2023 after beating its forecasts for last year, helped by rate hikes and also sees a "significant improvement" in net inflows, the chief executive said on Wednesday. HERA The Italian regional utility plans to invest 4.1 billion euros in the energy transition, circular economy and to strengthen its grids under its business plan to 2026, the company said on Wednesday. WEBUILD Italy's biggest construction group said on Wednesday it had won in consortium a tender worth 934 million euros by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane to build a 13-kilometre train line in Northern Italy.
