AMSTERDAM, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Economic growth in the
Netherlands unexpectedly accelerated to 0.6% on a quarterly
basis in the fourth quarter of last year as consumer spending
remained strong despite surging inflation.
Economists in a Refinitiv poll on average had predicted the
economy would shrink 0.1% in the last three months of 2022,
following a contraction of 0.2% in the third quarter.
The euro zone's fifth largest economy grew 4.5% over the
whole of 2022, helped by a strong recovery from COVID-19
lockdowns in the first half of the year.
