MUMBAI, Feb 16 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 362.4 points, or 0.59%,
to 61,637.49, while the broader NSE index rose 102.85
points, or 0.57%, to 18,118.7, tracking other Asian gauges on
expectations that the U.S. economy may be able to avert a
recession. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.2% versus the U.S.
dollar and was at 82.65, helped by receding concerns over the
Asian nation's trade deficit. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.44
rupees, with yield down 1 bps at 7.3426% on speculation of an
interest-rate hedge by mortgage lender Housing Development
Finance Corp that will boost demand for bonds. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
4 bps at 6.86%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 4 bps to 6.41%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was unchanged at
6.30%. The overnight TREPS rate was at 6.23%,
compared with the previous day's weighted average of 6.2518%.
