BRASILIA, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Brazilian President Luiz
Inacio Lula da Silva said on Thursday he wants the central bank
governor Roberto Campos Neto to fulfill his mandate to take care
of inflation, growth and jobs, another signal of tensions
between the government's position regarding high interest rates.
Hiking interest rate is important in case of demand-pull
inflation, this is not the case in Brazil, he said during an
interview to CNN Brasil.
Lula also said that if independent central bank has brought
something positive, it's okay to be independent, adding he was
"not worried" about its autonomy.
