MUMBAI, Feb 22 (Reuters) - STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 687.51 points, or 1.13%,
to 59,985.21, while the broader NSE index lost 215.95
points, or 1.21%, to 17,610.75 after strong economic data from
the United States kept investors worried that central banks,
including the U.S. Fed, would have to keep raising interest
rates to tackle inflation. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.04% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.83 per dollar as U.S. yields jumped overnight
on bets of multiple Federal Reserve rate hikes and weighed on
sentiment. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.06
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.4002%; vs previous close of
7.3883% ahead of release of minutes of the Reserve Bank of
India's latest monetary policy meeting, due later in the day. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was
unchanged at 6.95%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 6 bps to 6.63%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 5 bps at
6.60% against 6.55% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.55%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.5121%.
