MUMBAI, Feb 22 (Reuters) - STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 927.74 points, or 1.53%,
to 59,744.98, while the broader NSE index lost 272.4
points, or 1.53%, to 17,554.3 after strong U.S. data fuelled
worries about higher-for-longer interest rates. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.07% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.85 per dollar despite surging U.S. yields and
the fall in Asian peers, helped by a possible intervention from
the central bank. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 98.89
rupees, with yield up 4 bps at 7.4249%; vs previous close of
7.3883% as the relentless rise in U.S. yields continue to weigh
on investor appetite. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was up 5
bps at 7.00%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 10 bps to 6.67%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 10 bps at
6.65% against 6.55% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.40%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.5121%.
