MUMBAI, Feb 23 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 139.18 points, or 0.23%,
to 59,605.8, while the broader NSE index lost 46.55
points, or 0.27%, to 17,507.75, as investors continued to fret
over the likelihood that central banks would have to keep
raising interest rates to tackle inflation. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee closed up 0.14% at 82.7325 per dollar,
as Asian currencies made some headway following losses fuelled
by worries over rising U.S. yields. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.15
rupees, with yield down 4 bps at 7.3857%, on value purchases
after the minutes from the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) latest
policy meeting were less hawkish than feared. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
4 bps at 6.95%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 5 bps to 6.59%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 50 bps at
6.15% against 6.65% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.35%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.5431%.
