Swiss stocks - Factors to watch on February 23

ZURICH/BERLIN, Feb 23 (Reuters) - The Swiss blue-chip SMI was seen opening 0.3% higher at 11,331 points on Thursday, according to premarket indications by bank Julius Baer . Here are some of the main factors that may affect Swiss stocks: UBS The bank is looking to apply for a mutual fund license in China, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

MERCURIA A subsidiary of China's CNIC Corp has bought a minority stake in Swiss-based global energy trader Mercuria, sources familiar with the matter said. SIKA Canada's competition bureau said it reached an agreement with Sika AG to address competition concerns with its acquisition of MBCC Group. Sika AG has agreed to sell certain MBCC Group assets to a single independent purchaser to be approved by the Commissioner of Competition, the authority said. CREDIT SUISSE Apollo is in discussions regarding $750 million First Boston leveraged-finance bet, Bloomberg News reported.
