LONDON, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Turkey's lira held broadly
steady near a record low on Thursday after the country's central
bank cut its main interest rate to 8.5% from 9% in the wake of
major earthquake earlier this month.
The 50 basis point cut, which adds to a huge run of cuts
over the last 18 months, also saw the country's
dollar-denominated government bonds consolidate gains of as much
as 0.9 cent on the dollar. (Reporting by Marc Jones; editing by Alun John)
