Swiss stocks - Factors to watch on February 27

ZURICH/BERLIN, Feb 27 (Reuters) - The Swiss blue-chip SMI was seen opening 0.1% higher at 11,194 points on Monday, according to premarket indications by bank Julius Baer .


CREDIT SUISSE Credit Suisse Group AG's new investment banking chief, Michael Klein, is expected to lay out his plans for the division next week as questions linger about the spin-out's funding and structure, according to several people familiar with the matter. Separately, Bloomberg News reported Standard Chartered is in talks to lend on behalf of First Boston. NOVARTIS The pharmaceutical giant's supervisory board last year contacted senior figures in the industry as part of a search for a replacement for CEO Vas Narasimhan, newspaper NZZ am Sonntag reported, citing "multiple internationally connected, independent sources". Those sources did not know, however, whether or to what extent those discussions were ongoing. The newspaper added that the situation now appeared to have improved for Narasimhan.
