STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 448.96 points, or 0.76%,
to 59,411.08, while the broader NSE index gained 145.25
points, or 0.84%, to 17,449.2, boosted by metal stocks on strong
manufacturing activity data from China. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.20% to 82.50 per
dollar, as a stronger Chinese yuan sparked a rally in Asian
currencies. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 98.71
rupees, with yield down 1 bps at 7.4518%, as early-session
buying after weaker-than-expected growth was offset by spike in
Treasury Bill yields. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
2 bps at 7.00%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 3 bps to 6.65%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 55 bps at
6.05% against 6.60% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.28%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.5995%.
