NAIROBI, March 2 (Reuters) - Kenya's shilling slid against the dollar on Thursday, as hard-currency demand from fuel importers and manufacturers outstripped supply, traders said. At 0840 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 127.50/70 per U.S. dollar, compared with 127.40/60 at the close of trade on Wednesday. The shilling hit a new record low of 127.70/90 early on Thursday before recovering some of its losses, according to Refinitiv data. The local unit has shed 3% against the greenback since the start of the year. (Reporting by Hereward Holland Editing by Alexander Winning)
