STOCKHOLM, March 3 (Reuters) - Sweden's GDP for the
fourth quarter of 2022 will likely be revised up to -0.2% from
-0.9% compared to the fourth quarter 2021 due to a late update
affecting foreign trade, the Statistics Office said on Friday,
just days after publishing the previous figures.
Seasonally adjusted GDP-growth in the fourth quarter
compared to the third will be revised upwards from -0.9 percent
to -0.5 percent.
Higher interest rates and the ripple effects of the war in
Ukraine had been widely expected to put the brakes on the
economy, but the final figures published by the statistics
Office Tuesday were weaker than flash estimates had indicated
and below analysts' expectations.
Friday's corrected figure was closer to the flash estimate
that indicated the economy had contracted 0.6%, both
year-on-year and compared to the third quarter.
"The correction is due to a late update affecting foreign
trade. The correction implies revisions to GDP and several of
its components," the Statistics Office said in a statement.
The Statistics Office said GDP-growth for the calendar
year 2022, is 2.6%, as compared to the previously published
2.4%.
The full corrected figures for the fourth quarter will
be released at 0800 CET (0700 GMT) on March 6.
