PRETORIA, March 7 (Reuters) - South Africa's economy
contracted 1.3% in the fourth quarter in quarter-on-quarter
seasonally-adjusted terms, following a revised 1.8% expansion in
the third quarter, statistics agency data showed on Tuesday.
Gross domestic product (GDP) grew 0.9% year-on-year
unadjusted in the last three months of 2022, Statistics South
Africa said.
Economists had predicted a 0.4% quarter-on-quarter
contraction and 2.2% year-on-year growth.
The economy grew 2.0% in the 2022 calendar year, Statistics
South Africa said.
