MUMBAI, March 8 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 30.37 points, or 0.05%,
to 60,194.09, while the broader NSE index lost 18.75
points, or 0.11%, to 17,692.7, after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair
Jerome Powell flagged the likelihood of aggressive rate hikes to
tackle inflation. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.26% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.13 per dollar, after Powell's address stoked
concerns of larger-sized interest rate hikes returning. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 98.64
rupees, with the yield up 4 bps at 7.4622%, tracking a spike in
U.S. yields, on increased bets of bigger Fed rate hike later in
the month. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was up
10 bps at 7.10%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 8 bps to 6.67%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 5 bps at
6.35%. The overnight TREPS rate was at 6.30%,
compared with the previous day's weighted average of 6.2600%.
