Turkey - Factors to Watch on March 10

ISTANBUL, March 10 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday. The lira traded at 18.9575 against the dollar at 0422 GMT on Friday, unchanged from Thursday's close. During illiquid hours overnight, it touched a record low of 19.80 against the greenback. The main BIST 100 share index closed 0.14% higher at 5,446.22 points on Thursday.


GLOBAL MARKETS Falling bank stocks drove Asian markets lower on Friday, while bonds rallied and expectations for U.S. interest rate rises were reduced after a surprise capital raising at a Silicon Valley startup lender unleashed fears of broader banking-system stress.


ERDOGAN President Tayyip Erdogan will meet with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda (1200 GMT) and the Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev (1400 GMT).


UNEMPLOYMENT The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) will announce employment data for January (0700 GMT).


INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION TUIK will also announce industrial production data for January (0700 GMT).


NATO Turkey has acknowledged that Sweden and Finland have taken concrete steps to meet Ankara's concerns over their bids to join NATO and the three will hold further meetings, Sweden's chief negotiator in the accession process said on Thursday.


PRO-KURDISH PARTY Turkey's top court ruled on Thursday to unfreeze bank accounts of a pro-Kurdish party accused by the state of links to terrorism but likely to have a pivotal role in upcoming elections that are a threat to President Tayyip Erdogan.
