KAMPALA, March 9 (Reuters) - The Ugandan shilling weakened on Thursday on the back of a pick-up in demand for dollars from merchandise importers, traders said.

At 0932 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 3,705/3,715, weaker than Tuesday's close of 3,695/3,705. Markets in Uganda were closed on Wednesday for a holiday.
