March 12 (Reuters) - The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is particularly focused on monitoring for market stability and identifying and prosecuting any form of misconduct that might threaten investors during periods of volatility, Chair Gary Gensler said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement comes after U.S. officials announced that Silicon Valley Bank customers will have access to their deposits starting on Monday, as well as other actions to shore up deposits and stem any broader financial fallout from the sudden collapse of the tech startup-focused lender.
