MUMBAI, March 16 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 307.18 points, or 0.53%,
to 57,248.72, while the broader NSE index lost 109.6
points, or 0.65%, to 16,862.55, on fragile investor sentiment
globally after Credit Suisse, one of Europe's top lenders, added
to worries about a crisis in the financial sector. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.18% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.76 per dollar, on risk aversion over worries
U.S. and Europe banking turmoil. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.50
rupees, with the yield down 3 bps at 7.3332%, tracking decline
in U.S. yields. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
1 bps at 6.72%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate stayed fixed to 6.33%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 35 bps at
6.65%. The overnight TREPS rate was at 6.55%,
compared with the previous day's weighted average of 6.2883%.
