STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 78.94 points, or 0.14%,
to 57,634.84, while the broader NSE index ticked 13.45
points, or 0.08%, higher to 16,985.6 in a volatile session, as
Credit Suisse, one of Europe's top lenders, added to worries
about a crisis in the global financial sector. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.17% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.73 per dollar as concerns over a European
lender dented broader risk sentiment. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.37
rupees, with yield down 1 bps at 7.3526% vs previous close of
7.3620% tracking their U.S. peers, while focus shifted to the
Federal Reserve's policy next week after the recent turmoil in
the financial sector. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
4 bps at 6.69%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 5 bps to 6.28%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 20 bps at
6.50% against 6.30% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.49%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.2883%.
