MUMBAI, March 17 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 309.88 points, or 0.54%,
to 57,944.72, tracking an overnight rally on U.S. equities. The
broader NSE index advanced 95.85 points, or 0.56%, to
17,081.45. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.28% versus the U.S.
dollar to 82.49, on the back of the recovery on Asian peers. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.23
rupees, with yield up 2 bps at 7.3735%, after U.S. Treasury
yields rose on upbeat U.S. labour market data and the rate hike
by the European Central Bank. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was up 6
bps at 6.77%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 5 bps to 6.35%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 20 bps at
6.70% against 6.50% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.69%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.6114%.
