MUMBAI, March 21 (Reuters) - STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 375.87 points, or 0.65%,
to 58,004.82, while the broader NSE index gained 70.15
points, or 0.41%, to 17,058.55 led by financials, as the rescue
of troubled European lender Credit Suisse provided temporary
relief, although contagion fears in banking cast a shadow. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.06% versus the U.S.
currency, and quoted at 82.68 per dollar as worries regarding
the broader impact of a global banking turmoil continued to
hurt. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.40
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.3477%; vs previous close of
7.3361% as traders await state debt auction result. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was up 2
bps at 6.69%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 1 bps to 6.23%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 80 bps at
6.50% against 5.70% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.65%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.6658%.
