STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 193.1 points, or 0.34%,
to 57,822.05, while the broader NSE index gained 47.15
points, or 0.28%, to 17,035.55, tracking a rebound in global
equities on temporary relief from the rescue of financial
heavyweight Credit Suisse, although contagion fears in banking
cast a shadow. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee strengthened 0.02% versus the U.S.
dollar, and quoted at 82.63 per dollar, as traders asses the
impact from a banking crisis in the U.S. and Europe. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.43
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.3435% vs previous close of
7.3361%, ahead of heavy state debt sale. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was
unchanged at 6.67%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate fell 1 bps to 6.23%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 100 bps at
6.70% against 5.70% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.68%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.6658%.
