STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 445.73 points, or 0.77%,
to 58,074.68, while the broader NSE index gained 119.85
points, or 0.71%, to 17,108.25, as financials stocks rallied
following a raft of measures to stabilise the global banking
sector provided temporary relief. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee closed largely flat at 82.6550 per
dollar, as investors were wary ahead of a pivotal U.S. Federal
Reserve bank meeting decision due amid a banking sector crisis. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.33
rupees, with yield up 2 bps at 7.3581%, as market awaits outcome
of the Fed's monetary policy meeting due Wednesday in the
backdrop of global banking turmoil. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was up 3
bps at 6.70%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 1 bps to 6.25%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was up 100 bps at
6.70% against 5.70% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.89%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.6658%.
