LONDON, March 21 (Reuters) - British finance minister
Jeremy Hunt said on Tuesday that the country's banks and
financial system were well placed to cope with the problems that
have beset international lenders such as Credit Suisse.
"The government does recognise that there is some volatility
in the market," Hunt told lawmakers in parliament, reiterating
comments he has made recently.
"But we believe the UK financial system is fundamentally
strong and UK banks are well capitalised ... but we continue to
monitor the situation carefully," he added.
